The story behind Picnic in the Parks

Picnic in the Parks began in 2017 as a park based event delivered by Stepping into Nature, Active Dorset and Natural Choices working with the local town council and community organisations.

The events had an upbeat atmosphere with live music and opportunities to try out local activities they are interested in, meet like-minded people and gather local information. The events were an outstanding success and were therefore made bigger and held in more places.

Unfortunately as Covid-19 came along, the events had to be cancelled. It was however more important than ever that we find ways to live well and love nature for our health and happiness so, whilst we couldn’t run such as large and interactive event, we turned to a new virtual way of promoting these opportunities.
